General CLS FAQs

What courses does CLS offer?

CILEx Law School (CLS) offers a range of courses aimed at students wanting to pursue a career in the legal sector, including:

When can I enrol on a CLS course?

We offer flexible distance learning courses which allow you to study at your own pace, around your existing work and family commitments. Most of our courses allow you to enrol at any time, such as the CILEx and legal secretarial courses. Higher education courses follow a set annual schedule. Apprenticeships generally start in January and September each year but you will need to successfully apply for an apprenticeship vacancy prior being enrolled with CLS.

You can see the full range of courses we offer on our A-Z course list page

What does supported distance learning mean?

Distance learning means that your course is conducted online and you study at your own pace. This gives you complete flexibility to study and work at the same time.

It does not mean that you are alone. CLS supports its students in many ways: students have direct email and phone access to our Academic Team, from example.

You can find out more on our 'Why study with us?' page.

Do I need a computer to do a CLS course?

Yes! You will need access to the internet to use your Student Area. All our courses require access to Microsoft Word or similar word processing software (please refer to our IT specifications).

If you don’t have a computer, consider studying from work (with permission!) or at the library.

Where is the Student Area?

As a CLS student you have access to the Student Area and its course materials and forums.

You can access the Student Area from the CLS website homepage by clicking on the ‘Student Area’ tab at the top of the page. You will need to have your log-in details to hand.
