Defendant personal injury
If you are looking to train personnel to work in defendant PI then we have a number of courses to choose from, depending on the current level of knowledge of the prospective student.
This area of legal practice benefits from two of the new legal apprenticeships:
The government will contribute to apprenticeship training for eligible young people recruited on to recognised apprenticeship programmes. Workplace skills are delivered alongside technical legal knowledge. Current employees can be eligible, depending on their previous education and experience.
Supported distance learning courses
For those employees who are not eligible for legal apprenticeship funding,
Courses are shown in the table below. Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE level; Level 3 is equivalent to A level; Level 6 is equivalent to honours-degree level for law courses or LPC-level for legal practice courses.

|| Competent file handler incl client contact. Workplace skills are developed alongside technical legal knowledge
|Unqualified legal process staff
||CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice (Civil Litigation)
||Competent file handler incl client contact. This is a recognised paralegal qualification on the National Qualifications Framework
|CILEx Level 3 Units 1 Intro, Unit 5 Law of Tort and Unit 9 Civil Litigation
||The same knowledge of law and procedure as above, but without the professional skills units
|Law graduate paralegal
||Ability to progress files and to liaise with clients
||CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma
||This is the qualification to convert law graduates to Graduate Members of CILEx
|Newly-recruited legal secretary/ administrator
||More proficient legal secretary/ administrator
||City & Guilds/ CILEx Level 3 Certificate for Legal Secretaries
||Advanced secretarial skills. Add additional units to achieve the Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries
|Understanding the context of their legal secretarial/ administrative work
||City & Guilds/ CILEx Level 2 Certificate in Legal Studies with Unit 204 as elective subject
||Background knowledge - not at file-handling level

Fees and timings
Course fees quoted are for the academic year 2016-17. For CILEx Level 3 and Level 6 courses there are also CILEx membership and exam fees.
