City & Guilds/CILEx Level 3 Award in Legal Information Processing - £345

This qualification teaches you advanced word-processing and database skills. It can be studied as a standalone qualification, or it can be used to top up from the City & Guilds/CILEx Level 3 Certificate for Legal Secretaries to a City & Guilds/CILEx Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries.

What will I study?

You will study two units from the following, selected according to your requirements at work or area of interest:

Unit 324 Legal spreadsheet processing You will develop the knowledge and skills to use advanced features of spreadsheet software to manipulate data within the context of the legal environment. You will learn how to create spreadsheet files with multiple worksheets to include a header and/or footer, enter and edit text and data in cells, rows, columns and ranges; use enhancements to make the presentation of data clearer; enter and use complex formulae and statistical functions; insert links between worksheets to automatically update information; perform primary and secondary sorts; create and format charts and graphs to clearly represent spreadsheet data; name, re-name, save and print spreadsheet files, charts and graphs.
Unit 325 Legal database processing You will develop the knowledge and skills to use advanced features of database software to manipulate data within the context of the legal environment. You will be learn how to create new databases using appropriate field names and data types; create, amend and reformat data entry forms; amend database structures, data in fields and records; add and delete fields and records; perform primary and secondary sorts; use a range of enhancements to make the presentation of data clearer; use complex queries to create documents; name, save and print database structures, inserting a header/footer and page numbers.
Unit 326 Legal presentation techniques You will develop the knowledge and skills to use advanced features of presentation software to manipulate data within the context of the legal environment. You will learn how to create, modify and present information; create new presentations using a master slide; enter text and graphics on to slides; import objects into a presentation; use enhancements to modify and adapt slide layout; add transitions to presentations to create interactive slide shows; produce printouts in a variety of formats.

 

How will I be taught?

When you enrol with CILEx Law School you will receive course materials for each unit. You will have access to a Course Forum and Academic helpline to assist you as you go along. Once you have worked through the manual for the unit, and attempted the practice exercises within it, you can request your assignment.

How are the units assessed?

Each unit is assessed by one timed assignment taken under the supervision of your employer or another third party.

What next?

If you think you might be interested in the broader City & Guilds/CILEx Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries, we recommend that you apply for all courses at the same time. You will only receive a Diploma if you register for it at the beginning. Alternatively you can study for the Award now and then study separately for a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate for Legal Secretaries.
