Diverse range of law firms take on legal apprentices 07/03/2014
CILEx Law School clients who have embraced the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services as a recruiting tool this month include Barford Fraser, a family law practice in Kent, and Lodders, a practice with offices in Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Henley in Arden, who have a significant private client base.
The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services offers five different pathways so that legal services providers can tailor the qualification to their practice area.
All pathways include an Introduction to Law and Practice and Client Care Skills.
James Skidmore, who has been taken on by Barford Fraser in Kent, will follow the family practice pathway which covers units in Family Law, Family Practice and Child Care Practice.
The Lodders apprentice will follow the private client pathway which offers units in the Law of Wills and Succession, Probate and Elderly Client Practice.
Jenny Pelling, Business Director for CILEx Law School, said: “The range of law firms taking on legal apprentices illustrates the flexibility of this vocational qualification. We are seeing legal apprenticeships being taken up by firms of all sizes, all of whom see the benefit of a tailored programme of training and development.”
Glen Fraser, Solicitor and Director, Barford Fraser, said: “We are delighted to be able to take on James as a legal apprentice. The family practice pathway of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services provides an ideal training vehicle. James will learn the law and practice that he needs to know, and we are confident that he will develop significantly and become an even more useful resource for the firm.”
Alastair Frew, Solicitor and Partner, Lodders said: “Discovering the private client pathway of the Advanced Apprenticeship means we can provide our new young recruit with targeted training alongside workplace development.”
