CRM essential information guide
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) is launching an advanced customer relationship management (CRM) system. The way in which you engage with CILEx, CILEx Law School and CILEx Regulation will change as a result.
As part of this launch, CILEx Law School will now have a dedicated portal through which learners, prospective students and other customers can carry out a number of self-service activities. It will also provide easier access to key course information and other plaftforms, such as our virtual learning environment.
This pages provides information on accessing the various gateways and answers to some questions you may have regarding the new system.

To access each portal, click on the relevant logo. Please note that you will use the same login details to access all three portals.

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) is the governing body for Chartered Legal Executives, paralegals and other legal professionals. CILEx as a professional association provides professional development, support and guidance to its members.
It delivers legal education and training through CILEx Law School, qualifications through its Awarding Body function and independent regulation through CILEx Regulation.

CILEx takes your privacy and your rights to your personal data extremely seriously and we are committed to protecting the privacy of all personal data obtained about individuals. Data is held in compliance with data protection legislation and will be collected and used only for the purposes for which it was originally submitted or in accordance with your preferences.
CILEx communicates with members, students and stakeholders in relation to its activities, membership services and qualifications in various ways, including direct communications, e-shots, newsletters, technical bulletins and other mediums. We will obtain your consent in advance where the law requires us to. We will also send you updates about CILEx and CILEx products and services via these communication channels in accordance with your user account preference centre, which you can change at any time by accessing any of the CRM portals.

Built in Dynamics 365, the new CRM is a next generation platform which will allow CILEx to provide new and improved services to its contacts. Our aim is to offer greater flexibility and a much-improved user service functionality. It will also allow us to connect and integrate with other systems for joined-up data management.
The CRM will also feature a wide range of self-service functions which our contacts will be able to access directly, creating an enhanced customer experience. The new system will help us stay connected, streamline processes, and deliver a more interactive, dynamic user experience.
As an existing contact of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) or user of one of its functions (delivered by CILEx, CLS or CILEx Regulation), you will receive a registration email with instructions. You will be prompted to confirm your details, create a username and password and make some choices about how you would like CILEx to communicate with you.
These login details will be the same for all of the self-service CRM portals:
New contacts will need to register the first time that they use one of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives CRM’s self-service functions or enter into a relationship with CILEx.
The new CRM is allowing us to streamline our engagement with our contacts across CILEx. It is also an opportunity for you to have a say about how you would like CILEx to communicate with you going forward.
As part of your registration process, you will be asked to select which types of communications you will receive from us. You will also be able to edit these selections by accessing your preference centre through any one of the portals.
You will need to log into the CLS portal to:
- Purchase a new course or resources such our manuals, CPDs and revision materials
- Book an event, such as induction and revision session or day
- Manage your courses (view your active courses and course expiry dates, order updated materials or request learner support)
- Amend your profile information and updates your communication preferences
- View a record of your invoices
The CLS portal will also provide quick access to the following:

We will be adding to and further enhancing the portal over the next few months so keep an eye out for these changes.
As a contact of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (which includes CLS and CILEx Regulation) your data was being held in a joint Customer Relationship Management system (CRM). As part of the new CRM being put in place, your data has been migrated to the new CRM and therefore CILEx is contacting you to inform you of this change.
Registering will allow you to check that the data we hold for you is accurate and select how you want to hear from CILEx.
Please note that you will only be able to access portal areas and services in accordance with your relationship with the respective CILEx functions. So, for example, if you are not a CILEx member, even if you register you will not be able to access the full CILEx portal.
You will be able to update your contact details and change your preferences in all three portals.
In myCILEx you will be able to:
- Access your personalised account within the CILEx Professional Development Portal (myCareer)
- Log and view/edit your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record
- Make payments for your membership subscription
- Register for examinations
- View examination results
- View and pay your CILEx invoices
- Complete CILEx application forms
- Submit your Prior Conduct Declaration
- View/administer your event bookings
- Access branch information

It’s really important that the first time you access your CRM account, you use the unique link CILEx emailed you to register and activate your account.
When you click on the link you will be taken to a page prompting you to create a new username and password. As it’s a new system, your old myCILEx username and password won’t work. See how to do it on this video.
Once you’ve registered and are set up, the next time you come back you can use the ‘login’ button on either MyCILEx or the CLS and CRL portals.
Note: if you have not received an activiation email and link from CILEx, please email email@example.com and we will send you your unique link.
It is likely that you have not activated your CRM account. If you have not registered the system won’t be able to send you a password reset link because your account isn’t set up.
Please use the link (which you received from CILEx by email) to activate your account. Once you’ve done this, if you have any problems with your password, the reset function will work.
If you haven’t received your activation email, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once you’ve clicked your activation link you have 60 minutes to register. This is to keep your account secure. If the system locks you out, you’ll need to contact us so we can send you a new pre-registration link.
