CILEx Law School COVID-19 FAQs

The CLS team is committed, during this challenging time, to continuing to provide ongoing support and advice to learners, employers and other stakeholders. As a distance learning provider, we are in an excellent position to be able to do so remotely with minimal disruption to our services.

The FAQs below provide an update on CLS’s current response and the availability of our products and services:

Absolutely! CLS is still open to not only existing apprentices and students but also taking on new learners as usual.

Our physical offices are closed but we are fully operational and working remotely to meet the needs of both learners and employers and our provision has not been reduced as a result of COVID-19.

Generally, CLS services have been unaffected by the current circumstances. Where services have been, or may be, impacted, we are working hard to put alternative arrangements in place.

Our focus remains on providing the best possible customer service to our learners and other stakeholders.

Yes. CLS programmes, courses and materials continue to be available to learners and employers.

As a distance learning provider, we are already set up to offer online resources and remote support to learners, so our provision and customer service remains unchanged.

Our team is on hand to answer queries as well as offer support and advice. Given that we are operating remotely, we would recommend that you contact us by email in the first instance.

We are also operating a phone line for urgent queries: 01234 841000 (press 2 for CLS).

Our print supplier is currently operating normally so we are still printing and dispatching our materials.

Delivery times, as stated in our terms and conditions, are currently still valid though slight delays are possible due to postal arrangements during this period.

We are processing orders in line with the timeframes outlined in our terms and conditions. There are currently no delays.

If you have not been enrolled or received your materials as expected, please use the contact details listed on this page to get in touch with us.

We recommend that, where possible, you purchase your courses and materials via our online shop.

We are still accepting letters of undertakings from employers who wish to enrol employees onto our courses and programmes. The option to pay by instalments is available to learners paying for their own courses. These payments are now being processed by BACS.

Yes, we are still taking applications for the De Montfort Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course. You can apply online by visiting the following pages:

Please note that due to the current circumstances the LPC face-to-face teaching in September will be replaced with online teaching. De Montfort will review extending these online provisions further nearer the time. Please visit the course page for further information.

Yes. While CLS is following government guidelines and we have, as a result, stopped offering face-to-face events, we are making alternative arrangements available in all instances to minimise any disruption whilst keep our learners and staff safe.

We are running online inductions and skills workshops and will be offering online revision sessions, to be held ahead of the CILEx September 2020 exams.

Yes. Learners who had already received confirmation of their place on a revision session for the CILEx June 2020 exams will automatically be allocated a place onto our online revision webinars for the September 2020 exam session, which are being offered as an alternative.

If you had not had a chance to book, we will be making the remaining places on the webinars available to book via our online shop in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye out on our website, online shop, and social media for updates.

Yes. Please email your subject champion request to cst@cilexlawschool.ac.uk. Payments will, for the time being, be processed by BACS.

Yes, all our courses and programmes are continuing as scheduled. While we may, in certain instances, need to make alternative arrangements to deliver online rather than face-to-face tuition, our provision will continue, and Learners will receive tuition similar to what was originally planned.

CLS releases updated materials annually to reflect key changes to the law as well as amendments and additions to the CILEx syllabuses. Any items marked as ‘out of stock’ is currently being updated and will be released as soon as it is available.

CPDs are generally released each Spring for the CPD year ending in September. Our courses and manuals are usually published over the summer months.

Yes. We will be releasing our updated course materials over the summer.

However, please note that if you are planning to sit an exam at the September 2020 CILEx exam session you do not need the new 2020/2021 materials as CILEx will be using the same exam papers as originally developed for June 2020.

If you are planning to sit an exam in September, you do not need to request the new 2020/2021 materials as the CILEx September 2020 exams will use the June 2020 exam papers.

Current CLS learners who are planning to sit exams in January 2021 can request new materials through the CLS CRM Portal by selecting My Courses and Request a New Edition.

New learners who enrol after the new courses have been released will automatically receive new materials.

A number of legal secretarial assignments and assessments require supervision and cannot take place in a home environment. At present we are unable to support remote supervision. As such, if you cannot meet the supervision requirements you will need to defer taking your assignments and assessments until you are able to meet these.

Should CILEx change their supervision requirements we will communicate with learners as soon as practicable. We continue to work hard to enable learners to complete their qualification as soon as they are ready to.

Those wishing to enrol onto legal secretarial courses can do so and are able to undertake their course as normal, bearing in mind the supervision requirements.

CILEx is closely monitoring developments and following government advice. We are currently taking bookings for assessment sessions, however we cannot guarantee that they will go ahead. In the event of a cancellation, we will work with learners to provide access to an alternative session.
