Please note that this vacancy is a part of the North East Solicitor Apprenticeship (NESA) group of employers who are based in Newcastle. In 2017, 13 new apprentices were recruited, with a further 7 in 2018. Due to the success of NESA, they have collaborated with Northumbria University and CILEx Law School to recruit additional apprentices to start in September 2019.
You only need to submit ONE application form to the NESA group for all of the employers (including Muckle LLP, Womble Bond Dickinson, Hay & Kilner, Savage Silk, DRS Llp and Ward Hadaway with more to be confirmed).
Training to be provided
- Job-specific training through working alongside experienced staff
- A qualifying law degree (LLB) and two-part end-point centralised assessment, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQEs).
- Possible Enhancements
Your academic and competency training will be through Northumbria University.
In order to complete the programme you will have to demonstrate that you have obtained the relevant skills and knowledge required during your workplace training. You will also have to take a two-part end-point centralised assessment, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination.
On completion of the programme the learner will become a qualified solicitor (subject to the SRA character and suitability test). Northumbria Law School’s Solicitor Apprenticeship programme will build upon our innovative award-winning clinical based approach to learning, by designing a programme that integrates theory with practice.
Northumbria will use work based modules to connect the learning to practical experience and support the student in building a portfolio of professional practice.
Legal services organisations are increasingly using Northumbria University for training to develop staff into fee earning roles including through the new legal apprenticeships.
